๐ŸŸข๐Ÿ‘ฝ KSP Training Tutorials with Wernher von Kerman

Kerbal Space Program (KSP) has a number of training tutorials that can help players get started with the game and learn the basics of building and flying spacecraft. These tutorials are designed to provide players with a step-by-step guide to the key concepts and mechanics of KSP and to help them understand how to use the game’s tools and features to create and manage their spacecraft.

One of the first tutorials that players will encounter in KSP is the “Getting Started” tutorial. This tutorial provides an overview of the game’s interface, controls, and basic mechanics, and helps players learn how to move around the game world, select and use parts and equipment, and perform other basic tasks.

Once players have completed the “Getting Started” tutorial, they can move on to the “Basic Construction” tutorial. This tutorial provides a more in-depth look at the game’s building tools and features and helps players learn how to design and build their own spacecraft. It covers topics such as selecting and placing parts, creating and managing fuel and other resources, and using the game’s flight simulator to test and refine their designs.

Who is Wernher von Kerman?

Wernher von Kerman is a fictional character in the game Kerbal Space Program (KSP). He is one of the game’s main protagonists and is the leader of the Kerbals, a species of small, green, alien creatures who are the game’s main characters.

In the game, Wernher von Kerman is a brilliant scientist and engineer who is responsible for the development and operation of the Kerbals’ space program. He is the chief architect of the Kerbals’ spacecraft and space stations and is known for his innovative and creative designs.

Despite his technical skills, Wernher von Kerman is also known for his eccentric and humorous personality. He is often portrayed as being absent-minded and forgetful and has a tendency to get distracted by his own thoughts and ideas. He is also known for his love of space travel and exploration and is always eager to push the boundaries of what the Kerbals are capable of achieving in space.

Wernher von Kerman is an important and beloved character in KSP, and is a key figure in the game’s story and gameplay. His unique personality and skills make him a valuable ally and resource for players who are trying to build and operate their own spacecraft in the game.

Wernher von Kerman tutors you in assembling a spaceship during the first tutorial “Construction Basics”. Wernher can also be found in-game in Career Mode manning the Science Archives in the Research and Development Facility. Wernher’s personality seems casually self-congratulatory with regular mentions of his fame and the player reminding him of “a younger, less experienced, considerably less famous version” of von Kerman himself. He is known to roll his eyes at your “interesting” design choices.

His Steam Trading Card says, “Well, in theory, it should have worked.”

Real-world parallels

His name most likely alludes to Wernher von Braun, the “Father of Rocket Science” who was a Nazi scientist picked up by American Intelligence in Operation Paperclip after WW2 and led much of the USA’s efforts during its space race with the USSR.

His name may also be referencing Theodore von Kรกrmรกn, a Hungarian-American mathematician, aerospace engineer, and physicist who was active primarily in the fields of aeronautics and astronautics.

Wernher von Kerman appears to be the lead scientist at KSP, like von Braun at NASA; but the similarities seem to end there. The real Wernher von Braun was not known for bragging, in contrast with von Kerman. Also, von Kerman sports a moustache and glasses while von Braun was clean-shaven and didn’t wear glasses.
